2009 Dance Music Countdown

madonna celebration top song 2009We should finish off the year 2009 with a taste of some of the hottest music played across America and in the U.K,  This will come next month as we will have a year end music countdown instead of just a December top 20.  The best songs played all year will be the same countdown put together as previous years and it will shock you what song will be number one.  Will it be Taylor Swift’s, you know the girl that won every award known to God.

The last few months we have had so much new music my iTunes balance has sure been eating away at my credit cards, Mix and new single after single,  I was not exactly excited like the rest of the world of Susan Boyle because I doubt her music will turn into club hits unless well something just strange happens but anything is possible.

Taylor Swift is the most over talked about artist but her mixes make damn good Circuit plays, You can really feel her music deep when in the right mix,  Madonna celebration and revolver were two songs that made club nights that much more funner ever since August.  Madonna’s Revolver just recently was given a release date which featured a new remix from Paul Van Dyk (PVD) which is a killer mix.

Justin Bieber has to be one of the fastest growing name teen artists.  He is just unstoppable at this point and his older teen idol now grown up Jesse McCartney had out Body Language that went well on radio and at clubs.  Justin looks 14 but he is really 16 we found out.

Then there are the hottest international mainstream DJ’s Tiesto and David Guetta who have been on a US tour bringing in big crowds.   Not as much dancing going on at these as I suspected because it was more concert-like unfortunately.   The Dancing is much hottter.  David Guetta was unstoppable this year reaching the number one spot on Billboards Dance charts for 2009. That is quite an accomplishment considering his number two challenger was Katy Perry with Waking Up In Vegas a theme song throughout the year.  We love waking up in Vegas with or with one or two or three or four or more…

I looked over the Billboard charts, Masterbeat, and put in where I thought some songs landed as far as club play at the parties I went to in 2009 and came up with this list of the top dance songs of 2009–

Top 40 Dance Floor Hits of 2009

1.  Celebration – Madonna (Benny Benassi Remix Edit)

2. Beautiful U R – Deborah Cox (Yinon Yahel mix)

39.  Infinity Guru Josh Project

40.  Party in the USA – Miley Cyrus

Honorable Mentions-

Spaceman – The Killers; Everything – Ron Reeser; I Hate this Part – Pussycat Dolls, Wish U Love (Original Club Mix)

While we have Madonna Celebration listed as the number one song of 2009 we see that BPM has Kaskade Step One Two as their top song and Billboard has the Kelly Rowland David Guetta combo as theirs.  The number two and three spots you could change around and get both Katy Perry and Deborah Cox on ours and the Billboard.  BPM playlist for ’09 has Lady Gaga Pokerface as the number three spot.   I would say that BPM, which merged with the Beat in 2009 should have combined the playlists of both for the 2009 finale.  I would think that Lady Gaga would be the ultimate number one song of 2009 if you put the playlists together of what the Beat played.

I do not believe we had any new songs out from Erasure but we did get to see Andy Bell play a pool party for a bit at the White Party in Palm Springs and did see him last year on the True colors tour.  I suspect something will come from him next year.

Lady Gaga Papparazzi certainly had the hottest video of 2009 but it looks like it was not a dance hit like her other songs.  In 2010, look for Kesha Tic Tok to blast off to be a #1 dance hit maybe of the year if she keeps up her momentum!

Madonnan will be releasing a new album in early Spring of 2010 which will feature some of today’s biggest artists as usual.  We can certainly expect her new album to be a hot one.  I just hope she brings back her breakdance boy who performed with her on the Confessions tour he was missing on the Sticky and Sweet tour this year.
