Another club kid fabulous event takes place this week in the big city of Dallas. Club One re-opens its doors for a 20th anniversary. Not quite as old as Studio 54 but still has the legend behind it as one of the famous party monster clubs of the world. It was featured in the movie Party Monster when they took their tour from NYC to Dallas to find club kids all over. Club One also had its celebrity guests and dj’s ranging from Paul Oakenfold to DJ Keoki. Their bathrooms are more like hotel rooms and there’s even a lounge inside the bathroom where you can buy drinks. This club is only open for one night with DJ’s Red Eye and Ronnie Bruno Friday Night for this anniversary in the historic deep ellum district.

This club is a must-see for a fun party in the Nation’s Capital and to meet some hot boys.  It is not too far from the gay-friendly DuPont Circle.  In the photos you will see one of the hot bartenders with the video display in the background, some of the hot college gogo dancers in underwear, NiteCamp Dancers, and part of the fabulous drag show before the night kicks off.

I had friends tell me who have visited Portland before that you will see full nude dancers at this Silverado place.  It seemed more like an ass showing than the package and balls in the front. We went over to Silverado Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights and it never seemed all that busy but I guess it must have it weeks or times when hotter dancers are there. We were expecting it to be more like Oasis/wet in DC or like Swinging Richards in Atlanta but it was not as erotic if you ask me.

We heard that they had moved from another location on the hill and it was more on the grubby side of things and now its just not as dirty or scandalous.  They do have male strippers seven days a week and located not far from the Embassy Suites hotel if you want to stay close off of 318 SW 3rd Avenue.  The Silverado site claims it is open until 2:30am and there is no way we were told to leave at 2am every night.  SO that is a lame tease.

Steam is the bathhouse and if you get on Craigslist you will find them shamelessly promoting the place saying “21 yr old bottom needs plowed,” but oh I cant talk on email just come out to the Steam and find me.  Good luck with that!

Red Cap Garage
This was by far my top two favorite places to see in Portland not only does it have a unique name, logo, and feel but the dancefloor was the best with a balcony and boxes to dance on and the dancers were good.  If you look on review sites they will say that Red Cap garage is a mixed crowd and it is but its more gay and the girls who go there
are ones you would so want to be your next fag hag.  They seriously could have a fag hag special bring one in get one free.  We experienced the foam party but did not dare to get in the foam but danced to the good music and watched some erotic dancing in the foam.  The night before they were having a Fag Tag party and that was where everyone wears white and gets a florescent marker at the door and writes things all over each other.  A great idea for any club it was interesting to go around and read what everyone wrote on each others shirts.  You would see things like “I’M a Bottom” and “Cum Dump.”  Cute. It was a hot college crowd!

If REd Cap Garage (Stark and 11th) was my second favorite club then the top spot goes to CC’s or as some call it CC’s slaughterhouse.  We would sure like to know why its called that was itformerly a Slaughterhouse or something? or is it a meatmarket theme? We attended an after Labor Day White Party at this venue and listened to the fabulous music of DJ Robb.  He even spun the new Robyn Hang with Me Song!

I loved the CC’s Slaughterhouse because it had plasma screens where you could text DJ requests and text and flirt to other people in the club if they happen to look up at the screen.  With Grindr these days though many just get on their iPhone to find someone.

The bar next door called the Rainbow lounge was more like a coffee shop and was not playing the same music as CC’s Slaughterhouse.  We could not figure out sometimes they did not even have music and just seemed like a waste of precious club time to stand around in there waiting on a drink with no music– we can do that at Starbucks.  The bartenders were not really catching up with the lines either or they needed more bartenders.  It took way too long to get a drink around 30 minutes and that is way too long for us gays on a Saturday or Friday night.

Friday nights seemed to be more of a bear night but the music was still good.  Thursdays are hip hop with mostly top 40 Pop music and busy, and wednesdays were moderate not real busy with dance music at CC Slaughters.
OVerall the club had a fun dancefloor and boxes with gogo dancers and an upper VIP like area with pretty strong drinks it was a must see club.

Boxxes
This is a club that was more latino on Fridays, has foam parties that do not last very long and most of the people come in Boxes to drink then walk over to the Red Car Garage to Dance since it has the bigger dancefloor and Boxxes has the stronger drinks.  They are connected by a hallway and some random bar in the middle.  I would call Boxxes more of a bar than a club and the name is a bit misleading considering when I think boxxes I want boxxes to dance on.

Beware of the black lights in PDX town they will be everywhere.  Yes, Boy George called from the 80′s and he wants his Black lights back. Also beware of the bums they are everywhere and annoying as hell.  I guess they think you are so rich you can afford to give them two dollars every time we see one of the thousand bums who ask everyday.  Don’t they know we are saving our money for hot barbacks, bartenders, strippers, gogo’s, and fierce drag queens.. who has money left for a bum? Maybe if they take their shirt off (the cute ones)

If your looking for a Whole Foods in PDX then you can find one down the street from Boxxes. A nice, big whole foods across from a DIESEL on 12th Avenue and then not too far from an American Apparel.  So many good places all in one area.

Hotels in the area that are mainstream are the Embassy Suites right by China town and close to Silverado’s, CC Slaughters, Dirty, and Voodoo Doughnuts.  Just think you can walk out of your hotel room and order a ‘cock and balls’ at Voodoo Doughnuts then go farther down the street and get a dance from a hot stripper at Silverado.  Other hotels not far are the Marriott Courtyard and some others that were not well known chains.

Here is a pic from the line outside of the club in Houston, TX where they throw the MadonnaRama event every Spring.  The cover was only $10 and the place was packed with lines outside and reasonable drink prices.  There was nitrogen filling up the sweaty dancefloor every now and then to cool things off and they did a few drag performances on the boxes surrounding the huge dancefloor.  Yes, this is one of the reasons we made this club the Club of the Year in 2008.

But tonight is the grand re-opening of Pulse nightclub in Orlando.  They have remodeled the White room.  I have to say that white room was kind of annoying and too bright and many people probably thought the same thing.  We do not like florescent like rooms and I am glad to see Pulse is doing something about it!!  They have done some secret work on the room keeping it closed while the rest of the club was open and no one knows yet what the room looks like.  It is supposed to have more of a dancing area though!  The new Ultra Lounge opens up tonight with Industry night at Pulse off Orange in Orlando, FL.  The club is 18 and up.

The British sensation is scheduled to perform tonight at Tigerheat in Hollywood, CA.  Yes, you will have to set your Tivo to record Madonna on the Marriage Ref to see Little Boots live! She will also be doing a meet and greet. Released last Tuesday in the U.S., “Hands” is her debut solo CD and features the Red One produced UK top 5 hit “Remedy”, “New In Town” and “Earthquake”. Be at the club this evening to meet Little Boots as she makes a special live appearance on the TigerHeat stage and then signs posters and CDs courtesy of her record company. You know you will already be pumped after watching the Lady Gaga video premier of Telephone on E! News tonight you better go dance it off!!

I was at Discotekka last night in Miami which is located downtown and is a 18 to enter gay club on Saturday nights with 3 rooms.  I walked in two different rooms which had a broken ATM machine.  The ATM in the front was down and the one by the bathroom was out of order.  This should have alerted the bartenders that hey they should not charge this minimum of drinks.  Listen you jerks… if your ATM is broke you should not charge us a minimum for drinks or require a minimum of a ridiculous $60 or so.  Living Room the bitchy club in Ft. Lauderdale also requires this and their ATM was broken as well.

The ironic thing is that one of the bouncers was outside at Discotekka having people sign this petition to stop the clubs from being closed at 3am instead of being open later.  Well who cares when your clubs are open if you cannot even get a drink because your ATMs and your credit cards policy is so scandalous.  You guys need to learn how to run a business better and treat your customers better.

I will say that Discotekka was a fun club once you get past all the rules of the bars.  They had three rooms with dancefloors and one semi-outside bar to break away from all the smoke.  They had a drag show performed by TP Lords and a nice VIP section.  It is located not far from ParkWest and Space in Downtown Miami.

We also noticed that Mansion did the same thing in Miami.  Their ATM machines were out of service and yet you had to have a $40 minimum tab to open a credit card.

One Miami alert from the weekend is that police are randomly stopping or profiling gay clientele at Club Aqua at 2991 coral way.  Someone made a rather dramatic post about this but we cannot confirm that this is going on at this Aqua Club (which I have never heard of).  Stick to supporting  the gay clubs!

We visited the Brick twice so far. One time it did not have its dance permit yet so we got to take some pics of the place and got to really enjoy the atmosphere. The second time was a totally different scene that we had to put our Cha Cha Heels on for!

The second visit was more of the official grand opening of the place and it was busy and even with their big shopping center parking lot it was not easy to park unless you parked valet. DJ Michael Tank was in the house from Miami. It was great hearing his music again because it had been too long since I heard a good circuit beat mixed in with some new pop music.

The dancefloor was busy but it was too dark. I would have hoped to see a few things inside there. While I do not like things too cheesy or too much unneeded lighting inside a club you have to be able to see some. The sound system and lighting other than that were good.

We had a VIP pass to get into the club but it was not good for the Saturday night special event Michael Tank. Of course, it did not say this on the card and the place only takes cash at the door. We could not complain though because it was only $10 to see Michael Tank play.

It was not all that fast to get a drink inside the place. The bartenders did not seem prepared for a large crowd mainly because of the credit card machines not working. I hope these kinks can be worked out for the next big party. They also do not have a late night permit yet at this location so they closed at 2am which is unthinkable for a Circuit crowd. We like our afterhours but there are some places to go for afterhours when the Brick closes and those are 1. Station 4 (off Cedar Springs), only open until around 3:30am to 4am depending on the crowd; 2. Insomnia (off i-35 and Manana), a mostly straight afterhours beginning at 3am but the music will keep you moving around until 7am or so.

The Brick has a name in Dallas associated with its former location that was demolished off Maple and Throckmorton. The new location seems much safer and looks like it could really turn out to bring some people out clubbing that have been over the Dallas scene especially since he is bringing in big name Circuit DJ’s.

Valentine’s Day weekend (Saturday) they are bringing in DJ Kimberly S from Los Angeles. Saturday, March 6th my favorite DJ and remixer of 2009 Seth Cooper.
DJ Aqualight returns to the Brick on Thursdays. You may remember him from Village Station (the former club of s4). DJ’s Paul Kraft , Aqualight, Ric Herrington, and Mark Brack take over on Saturday nights unless there is a special night listed.

Sunday nights are retro nights where they follow at midnight with SIN or Service Industry Nights. The parking lot looked filled up when I drove by there Sunday. So it looks to be a big night as well! I assume this club will take most of the business of Mickey’s that recently closed down off of Cedar Springs. Mickey’s busiest night was on Sunday for their drink specials.

The Brick is located just a minute from the Oaklawn strip. Address is 525 Wycliff Ave. between Maple Ave. and the Tollway. If you are taking the tollway from the Galleria Mall you can exit right and just turn into the first shopping center parking lot and you are there.

Pulse in Orlando recently ran a contest for the best Lady gaga and they had lots of hot contestants.  One of them I swear was the real deal.  Everyone was stalking her at the club to get their pic with her it was like being backstage at a Gaga show because she walked, talked, and looked so much like her.

There were also some others that took everyone by surprise.  One was a Susan Boyle version of Lady gaga… how neat and creative is that!  Lots of fun this was and here are some photos of the event:
