Britney’s Hold It Against Me Video Premiere

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

If I say I want your body now would you hold it against me? No, you are hot in the video and so are your dancers. This was one of the hottest videos with the hotties at the beginning but we were expecting Britney to dance. Why was Britney not dancing? Her choreographer has been talking as this smack on MTV News and hes charming and all but really? We saw silly fighting that did not amount to anything but violence and aren’t we trying to step away from violence a bit? Paradise and sexual vacations having nothing to do with the boxing and kicking heels we saw it looked like two drag queens fighting it out for the Ru Paul’s Drag Race lip sync for your life finale. Honestly we love Britney and this song but we wanted a big more dancing to this hot dancefloor song or at least a video that had something to do with attraction and the actual lyrics.

You have to understand though us gays are hard to please. We get to see hot and entertaining drag shows all the time and it takes a lot to impress us. Our drag queens can do back flips, cartwheels, and lipsync for their lives. It was not a bad video at all. It was entertaining and I enjoyed it. Very sexy and futuristic and loved the Britney shots of her in her younger teen Disney years in the background plasmas. Just expected more from the choreography of HER and the storyline.

Here are some of the comments from Facebook:
“Brit can fight but can she still dance?”
“I love that these divas are so concerned about the welfare of animals. First Gaga shows up in an egg, and now Britney does her illusion of a ink-squirting octopus”
“I have seen better drag in the Rose Room in Dallas”
“and they call lady gaga a drag queen”

There were lots of good posts as well saying she beat out Gaga but I do not see this as some kind of diva competition. If we put it to that we could say Madonna has more moves than any of them. Madonna has the best choreographers than any of them. Gaga can sing, Brit can entertain, and Madonna can dance it up and re-invent herself along the way.

One thing to note that I just saw Perez Hilton tweet out is that she had knee surgery after the Onyx tour. So maybe we should go back on our words on the choreography was bad. He may have done a good job for what Brian Friedman had to work with. I just thought she was not trying and looked medicated or something since I saw her live at the HOB a few years ago before Blackout.

2010 Dance Music Countdown

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

We have been working on this list the entire year. This dance music chart is based on dance music charts, club play, the crowd’s reaction to the song, circuit party play, and international club play. In 2010, we had lots and lots of Lady Gaga with her concert afterparties and her dance music that you had to get out on the dancefloor and show your teeth. You could walk by a straight club and hear Lady Gaga and walk buy a gay club and hear it probably three or four times a night. She took-over the clubs this year and mainly last year as well. Then you had Robyn who made a comeback this year. She had the 90′s hit “Show Me Love” years ago and now looking great came back with this new album which includes “Hang with Me” and Dancing On My Own. Adam Lambert got some good airplay this year with his “If I had You”. It was just a year ago that Adam Lambert was on the American Music Awards performing his “For Your Entertainment” song and making us all sweaty when he kissed his hot straight guitarist.

Some of our favorite songs from the gay community included Jason Dottley – Hit Play and the hottest new kid on the block named Kaden who sung the Boy theme song for the A-List NYC. Boy George had Amazing Grace but it did not get the club play it should have..what was up with DJ’s this year playing the same repetitive stuff?

Of course we hard a lot from the new queen of every video Nicki Minaj who appears in every video made almost in 2010. She’s like a cartoon character that is everywhere!

See our 2009 Music Countdown and prepare for New Years Eve with this hit music from the last several months!

Nicki Minaj Pink Cover

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Nicki Minaj, already one of the hottest names on the music scene today, is set to release her debut album titled Pink Friday on Monday, November 22nd. We can expect even bigger things from this girl. I think of her as a cross between Gwen Stefani and Lady Gaga. I really enjoy her song Your Love that has the sounds of Annie Lenox in the background.

By the way speaking of Pink the name of Nicki Minaj’s album I can’t help to think how exciting the artist Pink’s performance will be Sunday night on the AMA Music Awards on ABC. P!nk is set to perform and she is pregnant. I wonder if she will pull an MIA routine. Well Mariah is pregnant as well. Lots of pregnant divas this year.

Should we expect some big club performances from Nicki Minaj. Maybe a White Party Palm Springs show?

Gay Teens Should Say F-You to Bullying and Homophobes

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

We are heartbroken and very saddened about all the gay youth suicides lately in America and want it to end.  Lets show the bullies and the people in the World who are homophobes and bullies to go f–k themselves.  Lily Allen puts it best when she says F-u!  Here are some French Teens singing the song.  It’s too bad that BPM on XM and Sirius radio are not playing this version of the song instead of the Cee Lo version in rotation now, but then again this songs not exactly new but its worth a try in light of all the gay teen suicides.

Pixie Lott, an Artist to Watch

Friday, May 7th, 2010

When you think of Pixi here in the US you think of a skimmed down version of the Palm Pre phone that never really took off only to be bought out by a HP. The Pixie we are about to show you is nothing of a weak phone but a talented woman who defies ‘gravity.’

I worked in radio for three years hearing acoustic performances in the radio station conference room so I really enjoy hearing new artists. I especially love it when record labels send me links to new songs or if I accidentally stumble upon one on myspace such as how I found Lady Gaga. I was like who was this diva… thought it was a drag queen at first. Oh wait.. ok, nevermind. I think one of my favorite artists who played for us at the radio station was a teen and his dad and all the boybands trying out were fun to watch. But it is always those soon-to-be divas that really caught my eye.

My friend sent me an email telling me about a new artist over in Europe that is “set to become the next Lady Gaga”. He knows how obsessed I am (everyone) for Miss Gaga. I looked over her videos online and heard some other tracks and think she is more like a mix of Natasha Bedingfield and Lily Allen. ‘Cry Me Out,’ is a single that really brought back some kind of nostalgic memory and quickly turned into one of my radio pick favorites.

The ‘Boys and Girls’ would definitely be a song I could hear Tracy Young doing something with or the ‘Gravity’ song. ‘Boys and Girls’ sounds a bit more like Gaga but then again I like my ‘Boys, Boys, Boys,” literally.

I think if Pixie Lott did a partnership with the Palm Pixi then HP shares may defy gravity as well as Palm sales! She could definitely be a good circuit talent. If you want to see her live you can see her shows at the O2 arena in London May 10-11. Pixie is also playing the V Festival in Stafford on August 21. BBC 1′s Big Radio Weekend in Wales also has her booked on May 22-23.

I just want to ask who are those cute blond twink dancers featured in the LOGO played ‘Make My Heart’ Video.  The trend of the hot white gay dancers is bring more white boys out of the closet to dance and that is a great thing.  In the past you noticed that white guys were normally last to come out in the dancing world.  This album so far has been great and look forward to hearing the rest and hope Toni Braxton can hit up some gay circuit events this year or stop by some of our mega-clubs such as Sobe in Houston and come play with the boys where she does not have to do something as contemporary as the Flamingo at Las Vegas.
