Lady Gaga rides on the V Factory Disco Stick

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

We’ve got lots of Divas, halos, and strong women in the countdown this month.  March Madness was more about the Fame Ball tour than anything else.  Yes, there was the Circus tour going on as well with Britney Spears which has had great reviews and touched down this week in cities such as Kansas City, Dallas, and Houston.  March has turned out to be a Britney vs. Lady Gaga Madness of its own.  The two divas have been battling it out for the Princess of Pop in which Perez Hilton has already tried to give away to Magesty Gaga.  Britney may have lost this because she just is not as fierce as she once was but she is still pretty close.  Britney is on her way to getting her thang back!

When Lady Gaga came on American Idol and everyone could tell she can not only play instruments but actually sing.  SING.. that is something we are not used to with pop divas.. they never want to sing and move around at the same time.  It is hard work so I can understand why but you have to give it to her for doing it.  The Fame ball tour hits up a few more places before she trades places with the Pussy Cat Dolls and heads overseas for their combo tour. Not sure where Britney when this is going on.  And where will Lady Gaga be for New Years?? Sign me up I want to come!!  I will bring me and my new wingman.

Love game was one of the most played songs I heard in LA making it #2 on the charts this month.  Of course everyone is playing Poker face but that was being played big in January we got’s to change it up some.

#1 Love Struck – V Factory (Tracy Young Club)

#2 Love Game – Lady Gaga  (Robots to Mars mix) “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick”- yee haa! She also just set a record this week with having two number ones at the same time which has only been done by other girls like Mariah Carey, Tiffany.

#13 Wanna be a DJ – Amberose Marie

#14 Day N’ Night – Kid Cudi – this mix has a little dance, hip hop, and just some spring break fun to it.

#15 Lily Allen – The Fear (Wideboys Dirty vocal)

#16 Beautiful U R – Deborah Cox (Yinon Yahel mix) She is scheduled to perform at Gay Days coming up at the Parliament House the first Saturday of June.  She is beautiful and puts on a great show with her diva voice.

Another hot hot hot song is the opening act for Lady Gaga’s House of Blues dates where she had White Tie Affair open.  They have a great club mix out that I have heard some on BPM radio.  Wished they would play the White Tie Affair more it should be on the charts next month!

Coming up this April and May–

Green Day comes out with their new album next month.  Their American Idiot broke sales records and was one of the best cd’s of all time.  Amazing concert and great work!

Make sure you vote for the top online music store and your favorite music through the Winter Music Conference website.  Masterbeat certainly deserves some honors since they not only give away free mixes now and then but they show what the future will be when it comes to downloads.  The technology on their site and the music catalog is impressive so far… they are actually updating their site to add Universal Music Group catalog while I’m typing this. So get him hot and show him what you got! XM’s BPM has a chance for being recognized for being the best dance music station along with some “local” stations listed that play the beats we love.

January 2009 Top 15 Dance Songs

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

It’s all about Dance music starting off 2009. Lady GaGa has been number one for three weeks now on the Billboard 100 charts. This is not just the dance charts but the mainstream top 100 including downloads, radio airplay, and single sales. This is huge news for dance music in 2009 meaning we are finally getting away from the hardcore hip hop that has plagued the clubs for the last few years and moving on to some diva dance beats. Just Dance is the song that has made its way to beat out Beyonce and Kanye West on the charts even though Poker Face is my favorite song right now.

#1 Angel On My Shoulder – Kaskade

#2 PokerFace – Lady Gaga Jody Den Broeder Mix

#3 Step One Two – Kaskade

#4 If I Were A Boy – Beyonce DJ Escape Mix

#5 Miles Away – Madonna  tied with Circus – Britney Spears (what the hell let’s put them both here)

#6 Human – The Killers Boystownlive remix or the Armin Van Buuren Radio Remix

#7 I Hate This Part – Pussy Cat Dolls Digital Dog Remix

#8 What I Cannot Change – Leann Rimes

#9 Out of My Mind – Lasgo

#10 Hot N Cold – Katy Perry

#11 It’s Over – Jesse McCartney (is this hottie gay?.. I’m single)  I just want to make out with him!

#12 I Stay In Love – Mariah Carey

#13 Never – Kristine W – Perry Twins Radio Edit

#14 A Tiny Shoe – FC Nond 12 inch Mixshow

#15 Fame – Donna Summer Ralphi Rosario Club Mix

Vote on your top song by adding your comment below! And while your at it check out the new Vanilla Ice remix to Ice Ice Baby on his myspace (Google it).

Madonna should include the remix that Boystownlive did up of her Vogue  on her new greatest hits cd coming out next year because it is mixed in with 4 minutes and it is just sick. I love that station. I wished Satellite radio would get a Boystownlive channel or I have to figure out a way to rig it in my car. BPM did play some good djs the other night Johnny budz and Mike Rizzo.

Best Dance Music of 2008

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

The Year in Dance Music for 2008:  The downloads, the hot remixes, and the divas.

register listen to free danceIt has taken me a few weeks to put together this list because I wanted to look over several sources to make sure it is just perfect.  This list is based on music played from the club play from DJ’s nationwide, compiled from Sirius The Beat Playlists, XM BPM Playlists (sorry the MediaBase link is no longer working), and the Billboard dance and club airplay charts.  The energy that the dancefloor gets on a song is also what I base my lists on… I notice biotches.  Mix it all together and you have the hottest songs of 2008.

One of my favorite songs of the year was American Boy from Estelle and Kayne West especially when I heard it in London.  Britney’s Gimme More was played a lot over in Paris along with Madonna’s Give It To Me which always had everyone on the dance floor.  In the US, everyone went nuts when Gimme More came on because it was like we were feeling some of the pain our girl Britney was going through.  It was ranked as the number one song for last year on our top dance charts.

You have to give it up to Britney Spears who has supported gay clubs all along.  She showed up at Piranha in Las Vegas, Tigerheat Thursdays in Los Angeles, and hit up G-A-Y bar in London for her birthday celebration.  I don’t mind supporting artists that support us and especially support our clubs.  These days we need all the help our clubs can get!

Madonna got a lot of good airplay in the clubs this year with zillions of afterparties for her concert.  I think I showed up at a “few” of those and danced my ass off.  Some were called Madonna-Rama some called Madonna-ista some Madonna afterparty.  It was the year of being Sticky and Sweet.

Our girl Britney’s Myspace page has already generated nearly 31 Million plays of Womanizer compared to just under 10 Million for Gimme More which was the most played song from Black Out.  I thought Gimme More was a hot song but I guess she’s selling this CD a lot better than her last in terms of doing interviews, playing live events over 10 minutes long, and being EVERYWHERE this last month like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.  Britney Spears has ended 2008 with a bang and will rock the dance floors with her new cd for months to come.

Cyndi Lauper was also one of my favorites in 2008.  She rocked the nation in small and big cities with her True Colors Tour to benefit the HRC.  Cyndi appeared on As The World Turns to sing Into The Nightlife for the hot gay boys on that show.  Hell yeah!!  I think Cyndi should get the Diva of the year award!!

Jesse McCartney came back this year with his “Leavin’” and how we love to look him up and down.  Some gay artists emerged this year on the Logo channel Johnny Dangerous (not to be confused with Jonny McGovern) who had some catchy sexy sounding rap like beats.  The dudes did not do too much this year though except for Justin Timberlake appearing in 4 minutes and talking Madge up to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

My favorite DJ’s of the year are DJ Tucker from Houston, DJ Erik “Hefty Lefty” Dallas, DJ Riley in Chicago, The Perry Twins, Chris Cox (not the other Cox), 4 Strings (Curious), DJ David Knapp, and DJ Roland Belmares (Beach Party in Pensacola).  If BoysTownLive.com could be a club I would be in it dancing they have the best music of any radio station online or versus satellite radio.

Some other names I meant to add were Miley Cyrus, 4 Strings, and I could go on forever.

Who will be the big artists for 2009?

Look out for LeAnn Rimes “What I cannot Change” – I was lucky enough to meet her before and I wished she could get the chance to see how gay guys love her music at the clubs.  Coyote Ugly brought out some of the hottest dance hits.  She has a new album and its already being played on BPM.  Beyonce with Single Ladies is kicking some butt on the billboard singles charts right now and If I were a Boy.  Kristine W has a new single out called Never that should get some club play (the DJ escape mix is fun along with the Perry Twins mix).

Of course we know that Britney Spears will top charts in 2009 (hmm maybe even with Radar which was ignored on her last album).  Madonna should have a greatest hits coming out?  And hopefully we get some hot guys who can dance that can be the next Ricky Martin.  Where are the dudes?

One of the best places online to buy dance music is not at iTunes or Amazon.com but at Masterbeat.com which is owned by a DJ and has every dance tune you are looking for.  Every type of remix available should be on that site.  I was very impressed with the Masterbeat site and the new music they had to offer along with the old school remixes.

Support gay owned businesses such as Masterbeat.com where you can get music for the same price as iTunes and may be a way to vote to get it played more!  Another place to download DRM free music is Amazon.com where it’s mostly .99 per mp3 but their dance list is not from the DJ pros like over at the master of beats.  The site is owned by a DJ so I think MB knows their music.  You do not have to download software with Masterbeat like you do with Amazon and iTunes.

If Christmas music is your thing then the D1 Club Christmas is on the Masterbeat site.  Carol of the Bells is a eventful song on this volume 1 collection.  And if you are going to miss George Bush in 2009 then you should download the Live Again song from DJ Stonebridge.  Love it!

Sirius Radio Kills the Beat

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

We knew this was coming when two companies merge it ALWAYS proves bad for consumers. Prices go up normally or you lose something. In this case we lost the entire reason we subscribe to Sirius radio.

Sirius and XM Merged and it proved bad for customers today when they initiated cost cutting in taking out the Beat and reducing their overall dance stations. I will now cancel my subscription to both XM and Sirius and just listen to internet radio. They made room for more Christian and Sports stations but cut out the dance stations. WTF. We should show them not everyone listens to sports who subscribes to satellite radio.

I like BPM and The Beat ch.36 but there is no reason we cannot have both. The Beat was different music than BPM during the day. DJ Armando on BPM is too lounge music-like compared to the more upbeat music you hear on the Beat. I had both because I like BPM at various times of the day but a full all day BPM is too much.. I want my beat back!!

This blows!

Eurodance Party Music

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Some of the best club music comes from Europe.  I am glad to be going there this weekend.  Instinct ran this Music for a Eurodance party and this was the countdown I meant to put up the other day instead of the Dance like a robot countdown.  This is still some of the best all-time club mixes.   One thing missing from this list is (Take Me Away) Into The Night by 4 Strings who by the way is bad ass live.  4 Strings is on the EuroDance compilation sold on Amazon.com.

You can also buy lots of these mixes on Masterbeat.com which by far the best gay dance site online where you can buy Britney to the latest from diva Kristine W.

  1. Snap! – Rhythm is A Dancer
  2. Captain Hollywood Project – More and More
  3. Real McCoy – Another Night
  4. Livin’ Joy – (I’m a) Dreamer
  5. D:Ream – U R The Best Thing
  6. Corona – (This is the) The Rhythm of The Night
  7. Culture Beat – (Calling) Mr. Vain
  8. 2 Unlimited – No Limit
  9. Alex Party – Don’t Give Me Your Life
  10. The Tamperer Featuring Maya – Feel It
  11. Amber – This Is Your Night [Diva Alert!!]
  12. Nicki French – Total Eclipse of the Heart
  13. Ace of Base – Beautiful Life
  14. Gina G. – Ooh Ahh… Just A Little Bit
  15. Urban Cookie Collective – The Key, The Secret
  16. Electronic – Disappointed
  17. La Bouche – Sweet Dreams
  18. Everything But The Girl – Missing (Todd Terry Remix)
  19. Pet Shop Boys – Absolutely Fabulous
  20. Real McCoy – Run Away

Actually, I am not sure what is so Euro about this list.  it sounds like my list of the all time favorite club anthems from the early 2000′s (some of them) and late 90′s.  Awesome list from Instinct.  Now lets go Masterbeat!

We Break The Dawn

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I could sit and watch videos for hours and not be turned on as much as this video did it for me.  Michelle Williams has delivered one of the hottest videos of the year with some HOT dancing.  Parts of the video remind me of the Madonna Hung Up performance when they pick her up and do lots of group moves.

Sadly, I do not think I have heard this song in the club (or maybe I was intoxicated at that point lol).  I have heard it on XM BPM and Sirius The Beat.  I noticed the video on LOGO The Click List where they play the top 10 videos it was at number 5.  The Perry Twins had a good video on LOGO also ranked at number 7.  LOGO is more of a Lesbian channel but you get the Gay stuff on there now and then =)

Anyway, here is the new video from Michelle Williams "We Break The Dawn".  I just love the choreography… its so good I can hear that lady from So You Think You Can Dance screaming up and down in the background!

20. Ladytron – Seventeen

If we are looking at songs that have that electro feel then there are many Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, and Erasure songs that could be on the list.
