The Fire complex, in the heart of London’s Vauxhall, incorporates the well-known Lightbox venue, and is an internationally recognized symbol of London’s buzzing gay nightlife. As a result of a licensing hearing in which the club retained its license, Fire will close for six weeks taking advantage of the time to complete refurbishment works, install new production and lighting rigs, and review processes in place to cater for the expanding business.

Fire nightclub has been running for nine years, helping a transformation in the local area to become one of London’s most popular gay villages, with a slew of bars, clubs and leisure business popping up around the Vauxhall Cross area. In this time Fire has hosted some of the biggest international brands in the world, as well as touring extensively through Europe and further afield.

You still have a few days to party at Fire before they re-open for New Years celebrations. Orange on Sunday 30th October, will be a major send off party, as Trade & Beyond present Ultimate. Fire will re-open on the weekend starting 15th December, with a huge re-opening spectacular planned for the weekend. All events scheduled to take place in this time at Fire will be re-located to alternative venues.

London is home to some of the best clubs in the world. G-A-Y’s Heaven nightclub is one of our favorites along with Fire. We hope to check out London again soon and dance like it is the end of the world!

We then walked down the street past a straight bar where they had a pee station that was sure flowing everywhere (if your into WaterSports) haha.  Made it over to Rijkeklarenstaart where the BOX club looked like it was closed but it was really open.  You just have to ring the BOX’s door bell and they let you inside where they have a two-story club and nice sized dancefloor with a DJ that will keep you dancing into the afterhours.  It was kind of dead on a Thursday night but I am sure on the weekends it will be packed.  We walked up to the bathrooms and were stalked by some lady who asked us for 50 cents to use the bathroom.  Be prepared to bring some Euros to use their facilities.

Sites such as NightTours.com only had one club listed for Brussels and that was the BOX.  Brussels has no shortage of circuit events though.  La Demence is their famous circuit party that has boys from everywhere in Europe attending with two big dance areas and a darkroom.  It seems to be once a month.

The club scene was about what I had heard it pretty much died down at 1am which is far too early for me.  We had to go back and nap after running around all day and was hoping we would find a good club to goto around Midnight or 1am and the afterhours club on the night we were there was closed down due to a “drug bust” or something?  A place called CockRing.  The club was boarded up so we walked over to this other bar that was tiny but played good music until 1am when we had to surrender our drinks.

There were a few places that had closed down that we did not get to check out the Club Blue which had a Jeans wearing party on Thursday nights.  It supposedly was the place to be during the weekdays and did not have the 1am time limit.  Hopefully we can check it out next time. We also hear that ARC is closed.  Next time we plan on checking out Club Exit, Club Roque, and Stereo and the weekly parties Blue on Thursdays, HOMA and Trut.

Amsterdam Pride was just a week or so before we were there and looking at the pics they had Tony Moran at an event called Air that looked like a good crowd attended.  Amsterdam Gay Pride 2011 will be Ausgust 4 to 7th.

A must see in Amsterdam is the Red Light district with women popping out of windows – really its quite amusing.  I just wonder where the ones with boys are.  Also see the Sex Museum and the beautiful canals and take a bike ride around town!

The Club Scene in Rome

The gay club in town is the L’Alibi which seems to only be open Friday and Saturday nights on themed parties.  There is also the Gay Village which goes on all Summer long with appearances this year from Boy George and many big name DJ’s.

Gay Bar Near the Forums

One amazing thing we saw was looking over at the Colosseum we noticed a gay pride rainbow flag.  the Flag was on the My Bar bar/restaurant opening out to the front yard view of the monster Colosseum.  Next door to My Bar is another small bar called Coming Out.  Coming Out and My Bar both seemed to serve food during the day and then around 10pm even on weekdays you will see the street in front lined up full of some of the hottest gays in the world.  The Italian boys come out to socialize outside these bars on [street].  Coming out at night seemed to be a younger crowd although the small lounge in the back just does not count for a dance floor at all.  This city needs some major work on the club scene it is more of a stand and smoke scene in the streets than inside any building.

We drove the taxi over to Hangar to check it out and the door was locked up on a Tuesday night.  I still was unable to find out the exact nights this place was open but its more of a bar anyway.  then there is Sidetrack and it seemed more like a bar where you go to watch small computer screens for porn and play with the glory hole than a club as it is listed on sites such as NightTours.  Judging from the photos on the website of Skyline I would say it was a bar and not anything close to a club.

I read on the travel forums that the baths are mainly daytime places to go and kept reading that there were bears and cubs and such there so it did not exactly sound like some type of student orgi.  I guess you have to goto the hostels for those j/k.  We did not get a chance to check out the baths but in some Europeon destinations the baths are better than the clubs with bigger dancefloors such as Paris.

As I walked inside the nightclub I was stalked by a camera and a microphone and had no idea they were taping so there is no telling where that will be… I did not expect the papparazi out on a Thursday night. It brings in part of the fun of the whole event on Thursdays though. The club seems to have promoters who they send out to get in their Thursday night contestants whether you are hot or not they probably get commissions or something when someone goes up for the contest to entertain the thousands in the crowd. Yes, it is busy on a Thursday night and if you are not going for the amateur contest of buns and loose nuggets then you can have fun just dancing the night away… just like any night.

Not sure what I thought about the judges. They seemed to say the typical stuff you have heard all before but seemed a little mean on some of the contestants and then seemed too nice to some. I think the French boy who entered the contest was one of the hottest but they told him he needed to eat… but the winner could have lost some weight in my opinion he seemed hot and blond and very ken dollish but could have loosed a roll. I loved how everyone in the contest seemed to be from out of town on Holiday there for there one night of embarrasement or fun if you wish. Here are some pics of the event.  There was a deaf boy, a buddy holly slash dough boy, ken doll, French tourists (who happened to be boyfriends), and your typical stripper boys who probably enter contests in every city and not to mention there was a fabulous dog on stage.

Prague is a beautiful city and a really nice, modern airport.  I am not sure what the average income in this town is but I cannot understand how everything can be so nice but yet the boys all seem to have no money and are all escorts.  The club scene is fun but the clubs are mostly bars with small dancefloors about as big as a living room and that is if you goto a club instead of a hustler bar.

I felt uncomfortable inside the clubs because you couldn’t tell who was someone who you could talk to without charging up a tab lol.  There were so many escorts out that how do you know when you meet the love of your life inside this place.  Or your trick for the night.  All of the hot guys seemed to have been on their own entrepreneurial clocks.  It was like a Hustlaball party without the freebies.

We went out on a Wednesday and Thursday nights out to Escape, Termix, and Valentinos.  Valentinos was  the biggest but it was not three levels like I had read online unless I read something wrong or went on the wrong night.  Maybe they open up another level on Fridays and Saturdays.  Valentinos  and Termix were both busy.

Termix was so packed on Wednesday night that you could not move.  Packed with hotties but most of them could have been escorts or thugs.   The music was great and the drinks were ok.  There was even a dark room to have some fun with boys you meet right past the bathroom stalls which had full doors on them.  Nose candy girls would surely like those liberal restrooms.

Termix (Trebizskeho 4a, Praha 2, Vinohrady) was so packed you had to stand to the side of the bathroom hall just to breathe.  If you tried to talk through the crowd you might get stuck and every just lock themselves in.  They must not have firemarshalls in this town.  I will say when its packed like this to always guard your wallet in your front pocket and hold on to your valuables.  I had my wallet in my front but I also had a brand new iphone 3g s 32 Gigabyte and got it stolen.  I imagine this happens several times a night on Wednesdays or crowded nights at this bar because they did it very slick.  I had no idea it had happened until I felt naked without my iphone.  Imagine traveling in Europe with no phone which is what I am doing thanks to this thug.

Valentino (Vinohradska 40, Prague 2, Vinohrady) had a lounge on the first floor where you can chill and sit at a table then you walk down a stairs and enter the club where it is normally pretty busy as well but a lot more room to dance.   The DJ is almost on the dancefloor spinning and even dances around on Thursday nights.  He was quite a fun character just like the weds night dj.

The money is in Czech crownes or corunas as they call them and very confusing and the bad thing is at these bars you cannot use a credit card so you almost have to have that iphone for conversion.  Or maybe its better to leave the iphone at home and get ripped off in another way lol.  I think it was around 200 crownes or 300 everytime I turned around.  You find yourself going to the ATM and getting out thousands of these and feel rich until a taxi rips you off.  Make sure you do not let a taxi charge over 200 crownes to take you inside a Praha area.  Their rates seem to vary significantly so you pretty much have to ask what they will charge before you step in the cab.

We also check ed out a male stripper club called Escape and it was located near some 13th century buildings and not too far from a Castle that their president lives in.  At Escape you have to ring a bell to be let inside the gate to go down into the bar.  This is a hustler bar where they have shows every hour or so and do a nude striptease.  I will say these Czech boys are just beautiful no wonder they are all porn stars but its too bad they are all hustlers…not that I have anything against escort boys hell I goto Hustlaball every year and it’s a blast.  I just couldn’t believe how many hotties you will find but its so strange being inside a club and there being more rent boys than there are customers. Celebrities is the local gay diner with a patio which is a fun place to hang out.  There is also Temple and some other places to check out but the main gay clubs are Valentino’s and Termix.

I do recommend you get picked up from the airport from a gay tour guide or someone who speaks English who you feel will not rip you off…although all of them ripped us off.  It is like the city of con artists, beautiful boys, and beautiful scenery.  A really good source for looking up travel information such as hotels and nightlife all in one google map is nighttours.com.

Lollypop @ Radost FX – One place we did not get to check out we hear is the best gay night is Radost, a trendy straight disco club but on the first Friday of every month they host Lollypop, a gay disco which almost every gay boy in town attends. Lollypop is fun but beware that after 11pm they start to charge 200 crowns to get in. Belehradska 120, Vinohrady, Tel: 224 254 776.

The Heaven nightclub transformed into this game show on thursday nights for the G-A-Y event.  I just so happen to be in town one night that a hottie was stripping on the poll for the amateur porn star of the night.  The place was a lot busier than I had expected and we had a blast dancing after the show.  Future star? You decide.

OMO was a party held at the Astoria for awhile but it closed down as well for the same reason.  I am glad I had the chance to visit Astoria while it was open because it was where legends of pop played such as Madonna and Mariah Carey.  But we have moved on to the new building where another legend will play this weekend CeCe Peniston.

CeCe Peniston will perform her hit song “Finally” (it has happened to me…). This will take place in the main floor of Heaven nightclub where you will hear commercial pop as they call it in Great Britian.  Also, Performing her hits including the anthem “Finally”, “We Got A Love Thang” & “Somebody Else’s Guy”.

The Star Bar will have commercial RnB, Pop Room – 80s & 90s, Dakota Bar – Cinema Room, Tonight showing Priscilla & Murial’s Wedding. £1 ENTRY wrist bands exclusively available from G-A-Y Bar.

Did I mention that Heaven was my favorite club in the World? Yes, it is but I go on tour starting August 2009 to be proven wrong so Czech boys, Paris boys, and London gents show me who has the best club.  This American boy wants to dance it up!

I rushed to get ready then finally got in the cab and got there around 1130pm when there was a line outside. I told the taxi driver to take me to the arches not knowing what they were yet. I could say well take me to Heaven but that would sound kind of strange if he did not know what my definition of Heaven was at the moment haha. My first day in town I had no idea that I would be in the same area looking at Ben Franklins home just around the corner or eating dinner at HaHa next door.

Looking at people in the line it was so neat because you could tell it was people from all countries not just Londoners. One guy was walking around in a shirt with a Swedish flag and others in the line were from Northern Ireland. I knew the night was gonna be different that was for sure.

I am not sure if they ID much unless you look under 18. They are tough on security though because they had a airport type security bridge to walk through and even asked me to throw out my box of gum. I guess they thought they were tabs of ecstasy. If they bit into those gum pieces later they would be disappointed at a no-roll experience.

Walking into the club you have the choice to go into three sets of doors and I had no idea what was behind each door. I picked the middle door. This middle door made me appear in a lounge type room which had the entrance into the main dance floor and the entrance to the VIP room. I drank a few vodka redbulls in this lounge not even feeling the slightest buzz because of the low alcohol content. They only give you half of an American shot in these “shot” glasses from what I could tell.

I did not need drugs or alcohol though. The music was so good I just wanted to go dance. I walked into the main dance room and was just taken away it totally exceeded my expectations of what Heaven should be. The hottest boys dancing shirtless, hot boys dancing with shirts on that could really dance, sexy dancers, and did i say…. OK you get the point. The music was amazing with the hottest remixes and the lighting was heavenly with lasers coming out of the logo of the club which of course read HEAVEN.

I am dancing so hard at this point that I had no idea there were other rooms in the club and really didn’t care. I felt like I was rolling and was not on anything. It was just amazing and I loved this place more than any club in the world that I have been to. This was on a Saturday night so it was no warming up for me when I went there without warming up to a Friday night first.

Around 1am or 2am the drag queen show appeared on the stage. This club is setup kind of like how Coliseum in Ft. Lauderdale used to be setup with the big stage and huge dancefloor and boxes in the middle to dance on. THIS IS HOW ALL CLUBS SHOULD BE SETUP. The drag queen came out with 4 hot male dancers that 2 of them were breathtaking and did a great show for a few songs. Just like how Daisy D and TP Lords used to rock the stage in South Florida.

At least there is a city or country that recognizes good club music and a great drag show on the main dance floor instead of all confined to some closet in a small bar like the ones in Chicago. I say release the drag queens and let the bitches perform.

So then I danced with so many hotties from so many countries. Then walked around upstairs to one room which was packed and playing rap/hip-hop music. Danced in there for a few songs then went to the other side of the building upstairs where they were playing indie music mixed in with some pop (not really sure how to describe some of the music) and liked hearing this because it was quite different. Danced in there and had a few drinks then went back downstairs to the main dance room.

I loved the fact you could dance on a box with so many people. Meet so many cool guys from London and want to go back soon. This club was good Friday, Saturday, Wednesday, and Monday. Monday night was a more straight night and had more rave sounding music that really brings about some sexy underground beats. I still heard songs such as American Boy and I Kissed A Girl by Katy Perry. Wednesday seemed more of a club kid night where you would see Party Monsters prancing around and the VIP room was open to all with some funny drag shows off and on.

The bathrooms were like a community inside the club where the big black bouncer man (one upstairs and another downstairs) inside the bathroom watches every move you make. I saw many kissing up to him but I would not trust him because I saw him narc on two guys going into the bathroom together. They did not cause any problems but he said they were out of there and made them leave. I am surprised that a club as good as Heaven has power hungry cologne and gum concession workers in the bathroom kicking people out of the club or are they undercover narcs. Don’t tip these jerks. That was my only bad feeling about the club to see two cute guys being kicked out for going in the stall together. This club is really paranoid about drug use or sex who knows… maybe they had big problems with police there in the past. I wasn’t doing anything bad anyway but I just hate to see people getting kicked out that caused no hurt to anyone.

Heaven is the best club I have ever been to in my life. It is at a strange location where it is not real close to the Astoria or the Soho clubs but it probably prides itself on being different. Yeah, definately better and bigger than any club I have been to in New York (after Roxy closed), Miami (after Coliseum closed/Salvation closed), Los Angeles (except for Avalon – Tigerheat but its sooo cheesy compared to this club), and ANY club in the US. If you want a young and gay crowd in London at least 3 nights of the week then this is your club.

Tuesday seems to be happening at The Ghetto in Soho and cruising at other bars in Vauxhall.

Wednesday – Trannyshack at Soho Revue Bar and Work at Heaven 11pm to 5am (£5). I heard lots of old school club hits in the main room. Early in the night lots of bars in the Vauxhall area feature an underwear night where they strictly enforce you to wear underwear to drink which is a fun idea. That might be something fun to do before going to Heaven. We hit up bars in the Soho area and were not impressed. They actually had sales boys out persuading you to go into their clubs or bars so they could get commissions on luring you in and drinking. Those bars were normally not worth the entry and did not even have their dancefloors open in most cases. We walked in and out of so many bars in the Soho area that I have no idea what the names of half of them were but it was a fun experience. No one would tell us where Soho Revue Bar was located and we never did find it but maybe next time!

Thursday – You have underwear night on Wednesday nights well its naked boys on Thursday with “Strict no clothes dress code (except footwear), free coat check and free drink.” Hey, girl, Hey! If you did not get enough nude boys then you can see them clothed at afterhours Gravity at Fire, Mirror Arch (rear entrance) South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall, SW8. 1am(Friday morning)-10am. Also, I saw another interesting earlier night party at Industri at Barcode Vauxhall where one website says the go-go’s have their clothes on (does that still make them go-go’s?)

Friday’s are so much fun there is not a place to begin. You almost have to flip a coin and decide from there what you will do on a London Friday night. The Cock at Ghetto has house/electro music and gogos.

Fridays are also great at Omo Generations at The Astoria. This venue is where the historic G-A-Y used to be which featured performance from Madonna, Mariah, and others. This club had a main floor as big as Heaven and a dance room upstairs with more of the Pop and Hip Hop beats. The main floor of The Omo at Astoria was full of hot boys probably more “camps” than you would see at Heaven but yet lots of hottie college aged guys and guys of all ages dancing to good music. Mostly pop-ish house music. I loved the huge OMO sign that was glowing from the stage and they had dancers and drag queens up there doing break dancing to watch all throughout the night.

Popstarz at Sin, Charing Cross Road, WC2. 10pm-4am. Popstarz has some damn hot gay indie kids and queer club rockers with a pop lounge, rave room, indie room, and outside smoking area. This club is across from the Astoria where the OMO night is going on so you just walk across the street to party at both on Fridays. Make sure you do not leave after 2am and want to come back though because at 2am they will not let you back in the door (even if you meet a hot boy you want to talk to again).

A:M at fire South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall – was also a party I stopped by for a bit. A cab ride over here to this neighborhood in Vauxhall and it did not seem as safe as the Soho area. I immediately had some straight couple trying to sell me coke or ecstasy on the street just after stepping out of the cab. Its almost like they were waiting for my cab to sell it to me… very scary. Fire was an OK club but much smaller than what I expected. I liked the fact that they had two dance rooms with different dj’s but it was not as delightful as Heaven or the Astoria and could not even compare.

I hear its dangerous in Vauxhall area if you do not watch your back. I heard of people being killed after clubbing and that lots of straight guys stalking gay guys and attacking them after they leave the clubs in that area.

Summary of Friday night

G-A-Y at Astoria just closed down its doors now called OMO. You can find out more at omoevents.co.uk (update: unfortunately, OMO Generations is now closed down and no longer has the event running). Popstarz (fireclub.co.uk) is my second most favorite place Fridays, there ages 18-30mostly, 3 floors, indie, pop, r-n-b floors. The Soho Revue is very freaky, more electro indie according to a local. He also says to wear something freaky, more indie, and funny and emo for Popstarz. He also said to not go to Astoria tonight is 80′s 70′s music but it was actually really good with lots of pop late in the night because the retro was earlier.

Saturday Night goes to Heaven Nightclub. Hands down and hands up you need to check out Heaven on Saturday and find out why its the best club in Worldwide for gays. You may also keep OMO Saturdays in mind because they are still having celebrity appearances. For instance, here is an ad for a Saturday in August “Tonight: OMO presents it’s first PA from a truly international star as Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland takes to the stage, performing all her biggest solo hits.”

Two great sources I found for the daily updated club scene were at boyz.co.uk/diary/ and http://www.qxmagazine.com (click on “What’s on this week” tab) for the club listings by each day starting with current days date. Too bad every city does not have these type of online guides such as the QX Magazine but most cities have no club scene to compare to that of London. Everyone should be in envy of what London has to offer because they have the best club scene I have been part of or dream of.

I may be an American Boy but I love the London Club Scene.
