Nothing is sexier than having both cash and cards.  When you whoop out an American Express Gold or Platinum card or lucky enough to have a Black card you are definitely showing the bartender needs to attend to your services in a timely manner.  Then again I own several credit cards and use my lower credit limit cards at bars so they probably think I am not so well off with my credit score using cards such as Household Bank.  But the laugh comes back to me because I only have to worry about someone frauding the card up to $2,000 and I am also making a FULL TWO Percent back on every purchase with this card.

If I lose the card or if someone writes down the numbers.. um maybe a shady bartender or shot boy then you can throw it away and get another card issued.  If you have good enough credit to use one designated card just for bar purchases it will help you keep track of the good and evil bartenders and make sense of some of your more drunken nights out on the town.

Credit wins hands down when it comes to security.  Do not bring Debit cards to the club at any risk they are the ones that you need to worry about and you could overdraft your account.  The best cards to bring out are credit cards with a low limit and give rewards so you can earn money back on bar, club, and restaurant purchases.  Try and put everything on your card from ticket purchases, door covers, and bar tabs, then have a few twenties for that other stuff you may get your self into or what ever dancer boy or drag queen you plan on tipping.  Hopefully your not taking a cab or you would need more cash since cabs hate credit card machines.

If you are in a foreign country its 4,000% easier to use credit cards and worth the 3% fee because you will be charged a fee to convert to Euros or Pounds or whatever the currency is in that country and at a bar its way too hard to calculate all the differences.  If they can just put the drinks you order on a credit card you are more likely to come out ahead of the other foreigners traveling in their land and not be ripped off.  You should also find an iPhone app to download to help convert that currency while you look over the credit card slip.

The best credit cards to use for the Nightlife scene are the cards that pay you back for dining which is Discover who gives you 5% during some months for restaurants and  Chase Freedom who gives 5% back on dining during certain promotions.  Both cards still give you money back on all purchases and Chase at least gives you a full 1% back whether the dining/restaurant promo is going on or not.

The nightclub scene could be hurt by this revolutionary GPS iPhone app that finds boys near you that want to be friends, hang out, or hook up.  This is not only got Manhunt and Adam 4 Adam scared but has them shaking like Gay.com and AOL chat rooms were several years ago when they were going down.  You can find someone that is 400 feet or 1000 feet or even 2000 feet or say a mile or two away and see their pic and see if they are your type.  You can then even trade more pics.  Say you are on the train, a bus, or even inside a club you can do the same and see who is in the same building as you.

This could be good for the club scene because it will draw everyone out with Grindr apps to meet more people and give the shy ones an easier way to say hi in case they did not want to go up to the person.  Then again it takes away from the dancefloor to have everyone Grinding on the phone instead of Grinding their hard bodies next to each other.  This could also be bad because people will just sit at home and play on their iPhone to meet up with someone and avoid the club altogether.

Can you imagine the Lady Gaga concert and everyone is Grindr instead of watching the show.  I had a friend who kept doing that at her show and I was like um why not watch the concert we paid for and meet boys some other time.

We have actually had clubs email them about throwing a Grindr party and they charge $150 for the banner, some tattoos for dancers to wear, ask for price reduction on drinks, free admission for Grindr iPhone app partygoers, and request they mention Grindr a few times a night from the dj booth and even ask for pics of the event. That is quite a bit of leg work for a club that is not even getting a sponsorship from Grindr.

Do clubs feel that have to give in to the Grindr craze?  For some it may be worthwhile but in most cases its helping Grindr more than anything.  It would be neat if the Grindr app actually served up clubs near you as well now that might be something the clubs could sponsor but until then the app people should be paying the clubs for sponsorships or send their product for free for giveaways and mentions.

Anyway shut your Grindr off and dance! Save your iPhone battery for when you want to get someones number who you actually talk to… like a human.

Your out drinking and having a good time or trashed on who knows what and you are somewhere you feel that you can trust the environment around you because you felt safe there before.  You dance away the night then you look in your pocket to see what time it is from your iPhone and realize that it is missing from your pocket.  You then freak out wondering where you could have put it hoping it is at the bar or in the bars lost and found.

With no luck you have asked everyone where the phone could be and feel naked without that nice iPhone bulge in your pocket.  You have most likely been pick-pocketed from someone who goes out everynight or mostly on busy nights to get in your pants.  Get in your pants the way you did not intend.  The same happens with your wallet which may be what happens most often because most people leave the wallet in their back pocket.

I find myself on busy nights putting my wallet in my front pocket or splitting up my ID and one credit card in a front smaller pocket in case someone does steal it.  I find myself in the busiest of clubs such as this Prague club where I had my iPhone stolen.  That just ruined my trip to the Czech Republic and made me think they were all theives.  But then again I should have just left my cell phone at the hotel and had it locked up in the safe.  I mean if you can’t keep it in your front pocket with tight jeans on there where can you keep it?  maybe we need crotch pockets for this…

I learned to put a lock on my iPhone and bought insurance on it online.  AT&T does not offer any kind of loss insurance for its Apple based smart phone even though it will offer insurance on all of its other phones including Blackberry’s.

Just in the past month I have known 4 people personally that have had incidents where their wallet was grabbed from their back pocket in gay bars.  This is really surprising to me that it is getting so bad you have to be in defense mode all the time that something can be stolen like this.

I think that in some of the 18 and up clubs that they should have the monitors who watch for underage drinking also watch for these wallet and phone thieves.  Catch some of them in the act.  The bad thing is that most of these crimes do not get reported so we never hear about it unless someone tells us personally.  We know the clubs  do not even get it reported en0ugh so they may not know how bad the problem is… Losing your ID or passport is normally the worst thing that can happen because then you are really SOL.   I guess the best thing to do is to keep one sober eye open and one hand on your front pocket and one on your butt at all times lol.
