Abagail brings in New Years 2010

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Abagail PhouseOrlando put on a star-powered new years weekend this year.  Starting out we had Abagail performing her all new song ‘Forever Young’ which was a great performance by the Parliament House poolside stage.  The footlight players also did some shows at the Phouse and then the DJ kicked up the notch to spin the year’s hottest music with some mixes that were new to the NYE revelers.

The weather was just perfect from Orlando during New Years night because it was warm to be able to walk around on the patio and pool area.  This was the day before the cold front came in.  Admission was $20 which is not too bad for a New Years with performances plus the club was 18 to enter all weekend long so all could join.

The phouse did a firework show and countdown at midnight and kicked the year off right.  Not too sure what went on after that because they served alcohol until 3am instead of the normal bar closing of 2am then dancing went on until 4am.  If you can remember anything after 3am with the strong drinks inside that place then you can handle your alcohol better than me!

It was great to see Abagail on stage again for the first time in years.  We wish her luck with her new single coming out and hope to see more shows from her.  She looked hot up there rocking it on stage.

fireworks-phouse-nye2010Revolution, Pulse, and Savoy all had busy New Years Eve parties as well.  Pulse followed New Years with a Lady Gaga Look-a-Like contest and it was the busiest I have seen that place in sometime.  There were many Lady Gaga’s walking around and I think the real one could have been there.

Spend your New Year’s With Lady Gaga or Mariah?

lady gaga plays piano wearing bubblesTime is ticking faster than lightning now that it is just hours and minutes to the countdown of New Years 2010. It sounds like a made up year that is out of reach but its just minutes away! Some Florida clubs are offering a chance to win free Lady gaga tickets but anything can be bought right?

First you have the chance to get a ticket on Thursday, (12/31/2009) at 7:30 PM for the James L. Knight Center in Miami, FL from $168 – $1412 on Stubhub and other online outlets. Then there is the after party at the Fontainebleau Miami to ring in 2010. Either way you will be able to say you rang in the new Decade with the hottest artist of the year and that is a hell of a lot better than eating black beans for good luck.

General admission to the Fontainebleau party starts at $425 for a general admission but you could see her full performance live just hours before this. If you have $25k to drop you can get a pool cabana with the view of Lady Gaga doing her smaller club performance. They have already sold over a million worth of tickets to this event but I am sure they will be breaking records when they are done.

I would rather see her perform live at the concert then go over to Twist or Score and find a hottie to make out with for after the Midnight rings. Her concert will be amazing and not to be missed and it will also be changed in 2010 so just another reason to see her again live.

First you have to decide whether you want a celebrity host at your new years party, then what kind of music you can tolerate (hip hop, house, jazz, your tastes here), if the event is under $100 or so, do they have a cash or open bar, does it have VIP, is the event upscale? etc…

If you happen to be in NYC then Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are doing a show at M2 which is headed towards a sell out performance . In Las Vegas, Christina Aguilera will be performing at Tao. Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria’s plans to appear at Eve, and the Black Eye Peas’ will be entertaining at LAX.

These are all straight clubs where these performances will be but if you want to find the ones at the gay clubs then check out this post:

New Updates–
You can also check out DJ Lydia Prim in New Orleans spinning and see a miniature Lady gaga performing at Krave in Las Vegas on this grand finale to the decade.

Gay New Year’s Countdown 2010

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Where did that decade go? It feels like it was only yesterday that we were all celebrating the end of the millennium and the birth of the new one, and now here we are thinking about what to do to bring in 2010 already. So what will you be doing this New year’s? Where to go? What’s going to be hot and wild? If you live in a big town or city there’s bound to be loads going on at your favorite gay venue, but what about taking a more global view, what if you are thinking of traveling for a New Year’s party this coming holiday?

Well, after some diligent web searching to see what the world was planning, I found a few places that were already making suggestions. The Gay Party Blog had our top list of five. Having discounted New York and San Francisco, Times Square and Las Vegas (done that, been there, got the T shirt), it came up with London as its number one spot. I can tell you that I’ve celebrated in London on many occasions, having lived there for 12 years, and Trafalgar Square is not what it traditionally was. It was always busy and crowded, but it also became too busy, too crowded, too policed, no alcohol and you weren’t even allowed to dance in the fountains any more. But just up the road is G.A.Y., one of the biggest gay, London clubs started by Jeremy Joseph… more years ago that I care to remember. This New Year the boy band A1 are reuniting for the occasion – so that’s going to be wild; but you’re going to have to buy tickets early.

Meanwhile (accounting for a few hours’ time difference) there’s going to be a lively night in Orlando, Florida over in the USA. Abigail is going on stage before midnight, followed by Inaya Day just after – at the Parliament House. (And Lady Gaga will be in town on the 3rd if you’re staying around.) On the West Coast you can find the 10th anniversary of Masterbeat at the Mayan Theatre. That’s bound to be large, huge, big and packed with perfect people partying into the small house of the next year. (Check the site at newyearsla.com).

But back in Europe you’ve got a whole stack of events lined up depending on what country you are going to be in or travel too. Amsterdam is famous for its gay scene (and other fabby things) and there’s going to be music, dancing and celebrations at Rapido from eight in the evening until five in the morning. Back in London G.A.Y. will have a run for its money with Kinky Trade going full swing in across the river Vauxhall, Popstarz holding it’s well known masked ball, and even smaller venues like the Village in Soho (a popular bar at the end of ‘gay street’) being packed shoulder to shoulder with horny and hot guys ready to get wild.

Other cities, like Rome, Munich and Cologne already have parties listed for the night, in fact anywhere you find a gay bar or club you’re going o find a gay party. Expect to pay of course, I didn’t find any events listed on the web that were for free – though some may well be, they are more likely to be the bars rather than the dance clubs. And expect to stay out late. You might want to get New Year’s Day survival kits in for the morning after: vitamin C, headache tablets, ‘the morning after pill’ and dark glasses. And another tip: if you; are going out for a wild NYE party, make sure you can get home safely. Check if there are night busses and where they go from, book a cab, or have a designated driver in your group who doesn’t drink, or else, if you’re up for some personal NYE fun, expect to start the new year with a stranger and take your condoms. But whatever you do and wherever you go – have fun and be safe; you’ll want to be around to see in the next decade.

Breaking News for NYE-
Update on Tigerheat nightclub in LA we could out that they will not be at Avalon this year because of a New Year’s Eve event held there for that Thursday. TigerHeat is hosting it’s “Best Of 2009 music video countdown” on Thursday, December 31st at Henry Fonda Music Box (6126 Hollywood Blvd.) from 9:30pm to 3am. Special location for this one week only due to New Year’s Eve.

Vegas New Years Eve 2010 Weekend for $30

Friday, December 4th, 2009

djmorningstar djpa tag team longhair djsIf you want to compare prices for New Years Eve celebrations this year you might just have a winner in Las Vegas.  The locals in Vegas could party at Krave for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for only thirty bucks.  If you are not a local you only pay $20 more.  This brings it to $50 for three days of the best Vegas nightlife at Krave.

Honestly if you are going to go all out and party it up at Krave then get bottle service and a table.  That runs you a minimum of $675 and can run up towards $2,000 for a cabana in the VIP section with three bottles.

You get to bring in the New Year with the Perry Twins Thursday night Hosted by Cashetta with a Balloon Drop, Snow Machines, and Laser Light Show. Krave opens early @ 10PM and the Afterhours begins at 4AM with DJ PA. If you have not meet the Perry Twins they are the nicest guys and both hot and very talented. I got to meet them at the White Party in Palm Springs and been a fan ever since.

perry twins with hot girlFriday, Jan 1st you have VJ ALPYNE spinning Pop Music Videos, Hot GoGo Dancers (as usual), $1 Long islands and Show Ticket Giveaways. Saturday the 2nd DJ MORNINGSTAR and DJ PA As Dueling DJs. These guys twins? If so this is a double twin weekend. Hell the Visconti Triplets may stop by as well. j/k. Afterhours with DJ Detour until 4am. Watch out for those wicked snow machines they attack you if your wearing black and make it look like you have dandruff all night long -not good for NYE pics. This looks to be a very exciting weekend at Krave and you can stay at the newly opened CityCenter which has a walkway over to Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Mall connected to Krave. More Details on Krave and Planet Hollywood.

Vegas is not the only city that is killing for business on New Years this year.  Club Heaven in London the biggest, best nightclub in the World has lowered their New Years Eve prices from last year to almost half that from before.  I do not see any budge in the circuit party in Los Angeles thrown by Masterbeat though.  I would expect some of the clubs are just charging $10.o0 for entrance this year when normally it runs $40 to get in the biggest club evening and night of the year.  Restaurants and the club business make a killing on this massive night and fight hard for your business by offering killer, memorable  performances.

We will not be in Vegas this year for New Year’s Eve. We are planning a trip to either Orlando to see the live performances at the P-house OR goto Tigerheat that Thursday night and possibly hit up one of the Masterbeat parties in Hollywood/Los Angeles. London was my first choice but it is hard to get anyone to commit to going so far this late in the game.

2010 TOP GAY NEW YEAR’S EVENTS

New Years Eve 2010

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Do you seem confused about where to go this year for New Years? I know I am.  I am going to have to wait until the last minute to plan this years final days because I just do not know where to party.  It is not because there are so many huge events to goto but because none of them really stand out so far.  This is the end of the decade we should be partying like it’s 2009 come December 31st.  Then again, do not party too hard because it falls on a Thursday and you have to party all weekend long afterwards.

I have asked on forums about what cities people think will be hot this year and its pretty much agreed that San Francisco and New York City are OUT.  Unless you want to be inside a small venue with too many people.  Not to mention all the mess in Times Square or on the strip in Vegas I cannot imagine doing either one of those again.  I wanna be at a huge party with big balls (you know the New Year’s ball) and hard pumping music counting down to the top songs of the year.

My top 5 pics so far are

1. LONDON, UK – Boy Band A1 reunites live for only 10 GBP at G-A-Y @ Heaven Nightclub (our favorite international club of the year)

2.  ORLANDO, FL – The Parliament House in Orlando hosts a rare performance by Abigail before Midnight. Inaya Day will go on stage right after the New Year’s Countdown about 12:05 and the 2nd Footlight Players show will be on the pool stage at 1:00am. The Footlight Players Special New Year’s Eve Shows will be “The Best of 2009″ at 10pm.  They also offer a dinner for $28.95 including appetizers and wine or champagne and dessert.  Note that Lady Gaga will also be in Orlando on January 3rd.

3.  HOLLYWOOD, CA – Club Tigerheat 18 and up club [they are open Thursdays at Avalon but not sure if they are doing anything special for this night but it will be packed]

4.  LOS ANGELES, CA – Masterbeat X at the Mayan Theater with LED laser systems and powerhouse team of Rosabel.  Party goes on afterhours at Arena with Manny Lehman.  Hotel Accommodations with a Masterbeat discount are at The London, a boutique hotel in Hollywood.

5.  MIAMI, FL – Lady Gaga live at the Knight Center then Genesis VII New Years Day 2010

Just added Las Vegas we will put that in as a tie with 5.

My favorite all time parties were at Coliseum in Ft. Lauderdale but that is long closed. You would think they would re-open for New Years Eve right?  The fun thing about New Years Eve though is it is Amateur night out because many non-clubbers go out this night.  OK, now that I have typed this list I am thinking I may have to go with a Los Angeles or Orlando unless I am traveling to the UK.  I also saw some cool parties going on in Brazil.  Come back for more updates on New Years Eve 2010.

Other related events include NYC, NY – Alegria, Sunday, December 27 – DJ Tony Moran & Abel in the former Crobar space.  Have not seen anything else exciting going on in NYC except the Club Drama going on that weekend at Rush and Splash.  DJ Tony Moran will also be in SAN FRANCISCO for a New Years’ Eve party.

Top Ten Moments of 2009

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

1. Lady Gaga at White Party Palm Springs.  Everything about this party was fabulous and will be hard to beat.

2.  Gay Days Typhoon Lagoon DJ Lydia Prim. Not sure how this was pulled off the last minute but it happened and was still fun.

3.  Club One Reunion Party.  A legendary club that had its reunion after years of being in the dark.  This was a true Studio 54 meets club kid meets circuit boy meets raver boy moment for Texas.

4. Arabian Nights Closing Party of Gay Days 2009.  This was an unforgettable experience put on by the now bankrupt One Mighty Weekend. Fire alarms were going off but the music was intense!

5. Deborah Cox at Parliament House for Gay Days 2009.

6. Erica Jayne performing for Dallas Pride.  Hot dancers and cute routine it was another unexpected surprise to a night of sweating and chair moving excitement.

7.  Madonna Celebration being played at Heaven Nightclub in London for the first time.

8.  Splash Days in Austin closing party with DJ Seth Cooper.  Had to have been one of the best dance mixes ever which was so unexpected for a closing party (I always say that don’t I).

9.  GAYVN week in Vegas with DJ Irene and Amanda Lepore performing.  Krave nightclub hosted a weekend that was much like Hustlaball used to be when it came to Vegas.

10.  Winter Party pool party in South Beach Miami. A pool party that just rocked from pec to ab to toe.

TIED – MadonnaRama at Southbeach The Nightclub (was probably my favorite thing the year before with the DJ that was supposed to be there).

There were lots of great events I was fortunate enough to attend including the MTV VMA Awards where Kanye West stole the show.  Madonna gave an amazing speech and Lady Gaga took us away with another stunning performance.  Madonna’s concert would be at the top of my list because I have seen it more than a few times but I thought I would make a list that included mostly dance/circuit or club parties.  If it were a list of everything Madonna Sticky and Sweet would be number one, with Lady Gaga at MTV VMA’s saying this is for God and the Gays as #2.  I was also heavily impressed with Jesse McCartney’s voice live. Who would have known that boy could sing not just that he is cute.

Happy New Year from Orlando Florida!!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

I am headed to the Parliament House in Orlando to bring in the new year.  Thanks for making this blog the most popular event blog for GLBT for New Years 2 years in a row!!!  Record breaking traffic this week on our website.  Make sure you comment what you did for new years and let us know!!

OK its time to go see the performance at the Phouse.  This will be the first time in a few years we did not goto L.A. but were gonna party our azzes off.  Party Time bitches!!Here are some pics from Savoy and Parliament house on New Years Eve Weekend.  The Phouse had a great fireworks show above the lake behind the resort and featured drag shows and the performance from Inaya Day who brought in the New Year.  I can say I would much rather spend New Years weekend in the warm climate of Florida instead of the chilly, crowded streets of balls dropping in Times Square.
