Gay Days Orlando: Salt N’ Pepa, Kelly Rowland, Matinee

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Gay Days is coming to Orlando in June and this years lineup may be the baddest biggest event to hit the O-town in years. There will be so much going on you will not know where to have your first drink or where to take your shirt off and dance. A few things may be missing this year such as Arabian Nights but there will still be pool parties and live performances that will ‘Push It’ to the limits.

Gay Days 2011 will be from June 2nd to 5th throughout the Orlando Metroplex with events starting as soon as that Tuesday night. Get a jump start over at Mr. Sisters if you have not had a chance to see this new modernized club off of a lake and with a romantic patio area. Wednesday night is Pulse and the divas and dancers. Thursday kicks off with PI at PH where the Parliament House hosts a laser show and gives you a chance to relieve the Pleasure island Disney took away from us.

Friday June 3rd-
It’s the Let’s Go Play Pool Party formerly Beachball now called Riptide with DJ Randy Bettis at Typhoon Lagoon from 8p to 2am. This is located at Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon waterpark and will be breathtaking boys and watersports. The watersports would mean slides and that big tide pool not the kind you are thinking of doing. Just make sure you bring a spare fake tan can with you that Versaspa may come off after sweating and swimming around this event.

This year even Typhoon Lagoon which costs you $79 has some competition. Kelly Rowland and DJ Eddie Baez will be live at Mr. Sisters. The Parliament House will have The American Idol Blake Lewis back again to sing hopefully he does not get a hurricane pouring on him like last year and Jessica Sutta from the Pussy Cat dolls will be on stage. Let’s hope Phouse has updated their sound system outside via the pool stage since their Ultra Nate New Years show!

Afterhours this year will be the Buena Vista Palace underground instead of Arabian Nights as tradition. They are still charging $45 for the afterhours even though its not at Arabian nights so keep our fingers crossed that it will be worth it! DJ Paulo starts the first night at the resort at 1am on.

Saturday June 4th Part of me wants to shake it up with the Salt N’ Pepa girls at the Parliament House and push it real good. Mr. Sisters has Deborah Cox performing with DJ Escape and the Universal Studios has its big, big event. Matinee: Ibiza Rising takes places at Universal Studios Florida with Ibiza’s own Taito Tikaro and NYC’s Hector Fonseca. Tickets are $80 for this event. With afterhours of DJ Abel at the BVP Underground.

Sunday Funday starts out with a Freemasons pool party at BV Palace then rips out with DJ Peter Rauhofer at the Hard Rock Live that night. The closing party of Wonder World 2011 will be the Tunnel event with DJs Chus and Ceballos. Again the Arabian nights closing event will not take place like last year.

RuPaul’s Drag Race takes over Mr. Sisters Sunday June 5 with a T-Dance all day and Water Ski Show with an appearance from Brent Everett. If you want some Retro in your Tea then head over to the Epcot from 2pm to 9pm and dance to Michael Tank spinning at Illuminations T-Dance.

The Parliament House features Kat Deluna for Sunday, June 5 where it is only $10 or free before 6pm if you have spent all your money on party favors you better just wind down at the Phouse. They also have foam parties and Adult Video appearances such as Brent Corrigan, Matthew Rush, and Diesel Washington (what year is this?).

We recommend unless someone wants to bribe us otherwise bahahaha.. to hit up the pool parties at the Buena Vista Palace and for sure the Doubletree host hotel. The doubletree last year had the best pool parties that went on until 3am and that’s where they boys were. Friday night at Typhoon Lagoon, Saturday night at Ibiza Rising OR just staying at the Doubletree pool side dancing all night and then going to the afterhours. Better yet just come party in our rooms!

New Nightclub Opening in Orlando?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The news coming out of Orlando this week is all pretty exciting.  Some news that the Parliament house may see some big changes soon due to some loan problems but they have said the clubgoers will not notice any differences.  Orlando has the most promising or some say the best club scene in America and maybe the World.  The only problem it is just too spread out for the gays.  Well there may be a two story club opening soon to add to the scene soon in O-town.

A highly popular bartender who worked at the Parliament House in Orlando said to be part of this new club opening called Mr. Sisters.  According to their website it says:

Change has come to Orlando in a big way. Combining a unique fare, decadent eclectic surroundings, a friendly atmosphere, cutting edge nightlife, and a return to the best in customer service, Mr Sisters has arrived.

Entering our over 12,000 square foot venue, you will notice attention to detail at every turn. Designed by Orlando’s very own Brian Humphries, combined with the most innovative technology, sights and sounds of Mario Meza, Mr Sisters is sure to dazzle the desires of the hot, young college boys to the eldest and most discriminating of “family” members.

Anytime day or night, our delicious and succulent array of world-infused salads, flatbreads, and entrees are hearty, abundant and fabulous. Watch the planes overhead or the muscle-bound, stunt skiers on the lake, as the sun sets on our 6,000 square foot, over-the water and under-the-stars patio dock. As night falls at the water’s edge, Mr Sisters transforms from a fun, relaxing restaurant to a state-of-the-art, high energy nightclub. Sights, sounds and sensory overload will overwhelm you. Two floors of non-stop entertainment unique to our venue will be your one stop for a night on the town. Our friendly, entertaining, and attentive staff will do whatever it takes to let you know that Mr Sisters is your bar. Mr Sisters – the fun, flirty, festive, exciting, innovative, astounding, eclectic, so you never have to sleep complex.

Gay Days Roundup 2010

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Gay Days 2010 has came to an end and it all just happened to fast. One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was the pool parties put on at the Doubletree host hotel for Gay Days. Kimberly S got everyone at the pool going for hours and even brought in a storm or two with the loud beats. Blake Lewis sung in the pouring rain at the Phouse and Hector Fonseca & Theresa closed out with a Kesha “My Love is your Drug” that ripped the dancefloor apart.
I was really impressed with Blake Lewis who performed under the pouring rain at the Phouse even risked getting electrocuted with his synthesizer or whatever that thing was that he was mixing with. He came out be boxing and had some of us fans being drenched when he said he had even two more songs to go.. Hell yeah thanks for that and I am glad I made it to his performance.
Most of the Mark Baker events proved to be a success including his Fascination party that many gave great reviews. I heard lots of good comments on both Universal Studios parties. I especially liked the one with rides and the fire pyrotechnic effects on the side of Tony Moran. The electric rollercoaster even made it more spectacular.
Let’s Go Play was a blast as usual and we were lucky to not have rain this year at this event. DJ Lydia Prim and a performance by Jennifer Holiday.
The best pool party goes to GIRL Radio and Gay Days at the Doubletree host hotel. They put so much more into the sound, lighting, and offered a better hotel for a better price (with an exception of the free weekend ticket offer). You also got your tickets upfront instead of having to show ids for everyone in the room which was a pain at the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn was a basic hotel not much of a resort. I hope Mark Baker chooses a better location next year. I remember the nice rooms I had last year at the Buena Vista Palace and being able to see the pool well this year was a different story at the Holiday Inn where most were stuck floors so high they had to stretch over a balcony to see the action down at the pool. You did not have to do all that at the Doubletree.
Lots of really creative stuff going on this year. I saw a guy dancing with a water bottle on his head. Two guys doing splits in the sand at the Typhoon Lagoon which was hot and to the music.. a guy break dancing at Arabian Nights and two hot Latinos swinging around in the rain at the Phouse. This is the stuff that makes all these parties so much fun.
I am thankful that the circuit events of Gay Days were saved this year such as Arabian Nights because it would not be the same without it. Also, the Universal Studios part where you can get on rides without big lines and no baby strollers to trip on from 8pm to 2am.
The theme song of the year this year was definitely Christina Aguilera “I’m Not The Same Girl Tonight”. It was played at every pool party, every event, and every club night. I also heard a lot of Kesha and Britney “3”, and Madonna Vogue and Like a Prayer…and that umm Glee song.
Such a great year with so many things to do at the same time it was hard to know what event to go to and not miss out on something.

College Dorm Tuesday Pulse Party with Tyra Sanchez

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Last night we partied at the College Dorm Wednesday hip hop night at Pulse nightclub where they had Tyra Sanchez perform.  We were fortunate enough to see her just a week ago in Dallas where she was at JR’s Bar and Grill and then did a fierce show in front of the drag theatre called the Rose Room. The Rihanna performance she did in Dallas was one of the best drag performances I have seen all year.

Pulse last night was overcapacity and they were letting in one person per one person exiting as you can see in the pics of the line.  The place was busier than normal because of the start off to gay days week but that just adds to the busy night that Wednesday college nights are anyway.  I heard that some people are checking out Revolution on weds but we just did not want to loose parking to drive over there.

Gay Days 2010 is Here!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

The wait is over and Gay Days for 2010 is here.  We walked over to all the host hotels today and were kind of shocked that the Doubletree was so hard to find.  So beware of getting lost trying to find this place it is in a strange location.  Not sure WHAT these people were thinking in planning the location.  For One they could have been next door to the Holiday Inn where it normally is every year and we could have been ONE big gay family with hotels next to each other.  Unfortunately, they probably do not coordinate hotels with these events haha..  The Doubletree was much nicer and more resort-ish compared to the very basic Holiday Inn but who cares about the hotel itself we just want to see the boys and I can guarantee the boys will be everywhere as they pour into Orlando this week (and hopefully not to much rain).   The Doubletree will have three pools one for the Bears, one for lesbians, and the main resort pool for the gays.  The Holiday Inn is where you will find the bigger headliner DJ’s and closer to Typhoon Lagoon and Disney (much better location).

Last night we made it out to Club Rain where they hold the Lucky event every Tuesday night and saw Jeanne Tracy preform her Cha Cha Heels song live.  Tonight excited about going out to Pulse and Revolution.

Here is the schedule for the big week of fun!

Gay Days Orlando 2010 Schedule

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Not sure what to do on Gay Days weekend coming up in Orlando or if its your first time to the big event let me help you out and break down the best of breed events. The real deal starts Tuesday night at Rain with a performance by Jeanie Tracy. If you have not been out to a Tuesday night out at Rain you are in for a surprise this place is way far from the rest of the gay clubs in Orlando but its not too far from the Millenia mall. Might have to make sure you have a designated driver or hitch the Disney employee bus to this event.

Tuesday, June 1 – Jeanie Tracy @ Rain Nightclub (Lucky) corner of Kirkman Rd and Conroy Rd
Wed, June 2 – Pulse Nightclub, a fun but crowded 18+ dance club.
Thurs, June 3 – P.I. (Pleasure Island) at P.H. (Parliament House) A night of pleasure with no cover before 11pm DJ Brianna in Courtyard and DJ Dido in Disco. (410 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando). Cover only $6 after 11pm. This is also a great night to attend Revolution to see good drag and hear the latest house music but it may be ladies night out there (we will update when we find out).
Fri, June 4- Let’s Go Play @ Typhoon Lagoon – this is the most popular event at Gay Days Every year. DJ Lydia Prim and performance from Debbie Holiday. 8pm til 2am.
Fri. June 4- 1am Deborah Gibson @ Phouse [good alternative if Typhon Lagoon gets rained out]
Fri. June 4- no scheduled Arabian nights afterhours for Friday but P-house is open until 3am.
Sat. June 5- Stratosphere @ Universal Studios Florida [21+ up event, $75 cover] with dj Tony Moran
Sat, June 5 – 1am Taylor Dayne @ Phouse + Foam party [18+ up event, $20 cover]
Sat. June 5 AFTERHOURS Arabian Nights – Paulo & Alyson Calagna doors at 1:30am and event is 18 and up with cover of $51 (cheaper than last year)
Sun. June 6 – Blake Lewis & Frenchie Davis from American Idol perform with only $10 cover at the Parliament House. This is our favorite Sunday night event.
Sun. June 6 – Arabian Nights Afterhours beginning at 2am dj Hector Fonseca & Theresa for $51. This afterhours is 18 and up.

We asked Mark Baker if there were going to be any live performances at his parties and he commented “we arent stopping the music for any ‘talent’”. I am sure many people will be happy about that as long as the music is not stopped for fire alarms instead. If you want to see talent your best bet is to mix up your weekend and hear some diva over at the Phouse or Typhoon Lagoon. I like to mix things up myself and see it all. If you are under 21 you may have no choice because the more circuit events are 21+ while the P-house 18+.

Let’s list the pool parties separately because wow there is a lot of events to talk about here. Keep in mind that there will be no performances or talent at these parties like in the past at the Johnny Chisolm Reunion parties. The pool parties (two different locations) are always my favorite part of the gay Orlando weekend and here are a few worth noting-
Friday June 4 from 12pm-6pm – DJ Randy Bettis at Doubletree Resort GayDays Host hotel [Doubletree host hotel is 18 and up pool parties and $15 cover]
Sat.June 5 -12pm to 6pm Red Pool Party with DJ Kimberly S + Brianna Lee @ Doubletree Resort Orlando
Sat June 5- ALL DAY – Paradiso Pool Party @ MBE Host Hotel Holiday Inn featuring Roland Belmares (free for hotel guests or $35 at door. 21 and up)
Sunday, June 6 – ALL DAY – Spunky Pool Party featuring David Knapp (free for hotel guests or $35 at door. 21 and up)
Sunday, June 6 – Noon-6pm DJ Seth Cooper plays the Doubletree Resort the Official GayDays host hotel.
