HK Lounge NYC

So a lot of people have been saying lately that “the NY club seen is dead” (or scene as you should spell it). That is simply not true (all that has really happened is that it moved from one party of NYC to another).  The scene has moved north from the Village and  Chelsea up North to Midtown and Hells Kitchen. One of those up-and-coming places is HK Lounge.

HK Lounge is in NYC at 405 w 39th street. The place has been getting more and more packed every week (I know because I like it so much that I practically live there). HK got amazing reviews in HX Magazine for FRAT BOI Wednesdays and also for HOT MESS Sundays both of which rocked last week and where packed to the rim with the hottest boys I have ever seen (not counting the go-go boys). HK will be featured in Page Six Magazine’s “Let’s Do Brunch” section in Sunday’s paper (November 16th issue) Be sure to pick up a copy this weekend or check online at nypost.com.

If that’s not enough the Go-Go boys on Fridays and Saturdays are to DIE for. Between Dante, Sam, Ajuna, and Michael and bartenders like Heran, Eddy, and Mike honestly I don’t know which one I would rather dream about.

The staff in general is nice, courteous and sincere and service is great which adds to the fantastic atmosphere which is classy and laid back but A LOT OF FUN. I really mean it too (I can be found lounging here Wednesday and Friday-Sunday)

So to sum it up, GO TO HK. You will love it! BTW I have also heard that you can RSVP for a free BTL. I think their # is 212 913-9092 or something like that just call them up.  Learn more about this fun lounge at hkhellskitchen.com.

HK is ok,but I wouldnt make it sound like the NY scene is still alive and kickin’ Trust me…Its not! Big deal so there is a few gay lounges in Hells Kitchen, HK,Vlada,Ritz,Posh, and Therapy. Those places are fine if you just wanna sit on your ass and chug-a-lug drinks all nite, but If you wanna experience a “REAL” club, there is Pacha at 618 west 46 street. They bring in big name international DJs sometimes a live performance (depending on the event) and although it is a str8 club it does draw a mixed str8/gay crowd. It also has one of the best sound systems in the industry.Ive bounced from one place to another all over this island gay nightlife has depreciated over the past few years alone if you go back just to early 2005 to present day 2008,this scene is a disgrace. There is no more Roxy,Spirit,Limelight or even Peter Rauhofer’s WORK at stereo (555 west 33rd) the lame-o lounges are fine for those who dont know how to get down on the dancefloor.I suggest to anyone who is lookin’ for the “real club experience” they should check out Pacha.Period!!!

I agree. I will have to check out Pacha too bad its a str8 club though but if its really MIXED then it sounds like it could be fun. I feel the “real” club scene may be making a comeback in a bad economy (that’s when Studio 54 started out) and we will finally move on from the Small Lounge Phase that has rocked the nightclub scene. We need a new fierceness biotches =)

Okay – first off – HK sucks! Sure, it might look like a good set-up that looks very exclusive, but come on…the people that go there aren’t that hot – and the bartenders have an attitude. Perhaps, HK needs a new ettiquette lesson on how to satisfy patrons. Service there is completely ridiculous and quite frankly – it is HORRIBLE. This place is so overrated! There are way better gay clubs/bars to go to in the city – not to mention in Hell’s Kitchen. Message to people who want to have a good time with friends and mingle with the boys – avoid this place – waste of time – and total waste of money! Other places like Posh and Ritz definately have better character – and better service – not to mention better eye candy. Glad I could help. Happy clubbing.

You guys are depressing me of not wanting to visit what used to be the hottest city in the US, I may have to change my new years plans to another city with bigger clubs which meet to our standards

Truth be told..The NY gay scene is an embarrassing disgrace.Lounges suck and they are extremely boring. There is no dancefloor in any of the lounges in this city (except Splash) and Splash is tired and dull.HK is no exception, that is an overrated tacky lounge with absolutely no flavor. To sit here and debate over whether or not the scene is still alive and well is delusional and short-sited.Have you payed any attention the the clubs that were shut down all over town in the past couple of years? Apparently not!Lounges like HK tend to draw boring crowds who are not enthusiastic about clublife, they are just there to bullshit and talk amongst their own cliche of friends.Im speaking from experience because Ive been to lounges such as HK,Posh,Therapy, the Ritz and Vlada.Same old shit, just different location and venue. What this city needs is some real clubs that provide good service without the bullshit. What we need are similar clubs to the Roxy,Limelight,Spirit,Crobar, and Stereo/Octagon (555 west 33rd).Ive been to every gay bar on this island (including twinky bar Rush)They all were the same old bullshit.Well except Rush, that place was worst of all, nothinh but tasteless hiphop/pop and underage twinks running around and the venue itself is tasteless. In Spring 2007 Peter Rauhofer produced the best weekly Gay Saturday Night dance party called WORK,and it was the gay establishment of choice (After Roxy shut down) and it drew a gr8 crowd (21 and Over) of course, lots of eye candy and gr8 music and DJs and a nice sized club. Approx 21,000 sq ft. March 2008 the club shut down for good and was shortly torn down without any question or explanation.Since then going out has been grim and a real pain in the ass to say the least. So to sit here and give people the delusion that gay nightlife is still alive…You obviously need a reality check.
