Where to Stay?
We recommend either setting up a tent on the private beach set up for this weekend across from the Portofino (you may also need an RV See below) or staying at the Portofino. If you have a tent you may want to consider a hotel as well because you will want a place to regroup each night. There are facilities for bathrooms and showers along the beach but to each his own.

The Portofino Resort is where you will find many gay parties and you can go room to room or their main pool area where they normally have a huge Pool Party event setup each year for this weekend. It’s not an easy task getting a room at the Portofino because you basically have to plan months in advance and you have to book with a 4 day minimum and have two rooms or more. They are more expensive than a regular hotel but not so bad when you split it up with friends.  Other hotels in the area include the Holiday Inn, Hilton and the Hampton Inn right along the beach.

$25 in AirBnB Travel credits – you can find many villas, homes or apartments close to the beach with AirBnb.
$25 Misterbnb Credit –
Similar to AirBnb but Gay Hosted:
Go here
for a $25 Misterbnb credit on your first stay.
$100 Outdoorsy RV Credit – buy an RV Spot in the middle of the action. Most recommended.
$40 off your 1st purchase of $300 or more on Hotels.com.

Pensacola Beach is the LGBTQ Place to Be Memorial Day Weekend

The only real competition for Memorial Day Weekend each year has been Las Vegas for Matinee but ultimately people chose the southern boys in Pensacola. The Matinee Las Vegas event disappeared from the event schedule last year. It could also be that people wanted the real beaches instead of the overpriced buy-a-bottle lounge chair concrete beaches in Las Vegas. With the Pensacola Beach the gays take over during this weekend you don’t have to pay anyone to put up a tent and can goto temporary tent venue to tent venue partying it up from sunrise to sunrise.

Things To Know Before you Attend Pensacola Beach Memorial Day Weekend

Emerald_City DJ Lineup Pensacola DJ Gauthreau

The Pensacola Memorial day weekend is entirely located at the Portofino or on the private beach that goes on a few miles. Some of the events used to be held at Emerald City which recently closed down. Pensacola is located in a Southern city and it attracts some of the hottest guys from (Atlanta) Georgia, Kentucky, (Nashville) Tennessee, and Alabama.

Since the 1960’s, LGBT people have been meeting at Pensacola Beach for what eventually became known as “Gay Memorial Day Weekend.”

Gay Memorial Day Weekend, also sometimes called “Memorial Day Pensacola Beach Pride,” is a yearly gathering on the beach that by the 1990’s had grown into a large, organized event, including circuit parties and drag shows. The event has attracted thousands of revelers each year, often wearing rainbow flags and digging out jacuzzis on the beach. The gays have an entire area of a more private beach that stretches for a few miles.

Parking, Trash and Tent Placement for Gay Pensacola 2022

A “Leave No Trace” ordinance was passed to protect the beautiful
beaches that prohibits tents or any personal items from being left on the beach overnight. After meeting with the Santa Rosa Island Authority, Memorial Weekend Pensacola has been granted a special event permit. This permit will allow for tents to remain overnight on the beach in the event area from 7AM Thursday, May 25th through 7AM Monday, May 29th. This area is just east of Portofino to the National Seashore. There will be signage marking the area.

Johnny Chisholm events will be selling a limited number of 4 day parking passes ($70) for Park East parking lot 3 at johnnychisholm.com. This Parking Pass guarantees a parking space and allows vehicle to pass through roadblock each day after the road to beach is closed. This will off-set the cost of the cleaning fee to the county, cost of extra dumpsters, port-a-lets and public safety officials.

Here is what is allowed on the beach for this weekend:
1) Pop-up tents or canopies without sides, canopies must be next to each other or 7 feet apart.
2) Tables – These must be at least 7 feet long and 3 feet tall. This is to ensure sea turtles have access to the beach.
3) Chairs – All chairs must be removed from the beach at night or folded and strapped to canopy posts.
4) Ice chests – All need to be removed at night or placed on top of tables.
5) Solar-powered generators with sealed batteries (Not over night).
These items are not allowed:
1) Tents with sides or built-in floor.
2) No guy-wire supporting canopies.
3) No fossil fuel generators.
4) No open flames – this includes charcoal grills.
5) No portable toilets.
