We thought the sky was falling when we first got to Palm Springs this year. We got to the room and were behind the pool stage then heard that Peter Rauhofer canceled. Heard rumors that Rihanna would perform but shes in Calgary and hasn’t she been canceling her own tour dates?!? Then AT&T data is not working right which means no Grindr, no Twitter, no Facebook, and that is the reason I first thought JeffreySanker.com may be not showing up. We then come to find that the main page is not showing up so we can’t view the concert schedules. Oh to hell with all this I just saw several hot Cali boys walk by… on to the pool party..then to the sexy underwear party that is always a big hit.
Let me just say that the LED lights/screens at the main event on Saturday were breathtaking. I walked in this place and thought I am in Heaven. I loved how they could spread Alexis Jordon on all the screens across the entire dance floor. Makes it more dramatic and fun. The effects they could do were stunning. These screens should come back again and again.
One of my favorite performers was Ana Matronic – Scissor Sisters red head. It was absolute fierceness. It was a sexy performance. I was worried i would not get excited without Jake Shears there but she blew me away. They were flashing A/M on the screens when Ana Matronic was performing.
It’s interesting how different the afterhours nights are. Friday night seems a bit younger wearing underwear and then you get over to Sunday night it gets a bit more trance and bearish and more of those leather body harns. The Sunday night party which was a bit darker and deeper seemed the busiest especially compared to Saturday afterhours at the hotel where half of the dancefloor seemed busy most of the night. Saturday night is such a Fashion show at this event as you can see from the photos on this post. These guys are so creative with their lights, boots, pants, and glue on items. It’s almost like a gay Halloween block party in white.
While I liked Icona Pop who played way too early and should have been the on the main stage Saturday night… I also thought the Ana Matronic performance was unique and hot. Especially loved Carly Rae Jepsen performing Tonight “I’m Getting Over You” and “Call Me Maybe”. I do not understand why radio does not play “I’m Getting Over You” more than Taylor Swift’s music with no heart in it. You can just feel it more with Carly plus she loves the gays. The Theme song this year must have been the Let’s Have a Kiki song. It was on every DJ set it seemed. Another hot song this year was the Avicii “I Could Be The One”. We hope to see Avicii headline next year that would be epic. We just hope he will be shirtless.
It is hard to say what party is the best around the world. People ask if Matinee Las Vegas will be better than the White Party. Matinee Las Vegas does not seem to have a huge venue like the White Party Palm Springs and does not have the line-up of performers. Although they could pull something last minute. We will see what comes this year…
You could not have asked for better weather in Palm Springs for this party it felt great at night with the cooler air and hot and sunny in the daytime. What a paradise!
